Majura
We found Majura at the annual Horse Market in Tiruvannamalai which is part of the Deepam festival, hosts millions of people from the whole of India.
The first time we encountered him, we saw a broken down and frustrated horse who might bite us. We scanned the market over the next few days, but came back each time to this horse whose crystal blue eyes and the angel like mane had spoken to us. This horse had caught our curiosity and by the end of that last day of the market we had test ridden him, who we found out was a gelding and didn’t bite. We ended up buying him that same day.
That night was a grand adventure, we had spoken to a friend in the city who would host Majura for the night, but the catch was getting him there. Swarms of Tens of Thousands of people filled the whole street, all walking in the same direction on the ring road around the great mountain Arunachala. We realized the way we had to lead Majura through the people, against the stream, to get him to his shelter for the night.
The Sun has set and Beau and I find ourselves in a swarm of loud pushy tamils, with a beautiful and
courageous horse, on our way to safety. As we tear through crowds shocked and frightened people
cry out as (the Kings Horse) squeezes by (the Indians see the Marwari Horses as a very luxurious owns and they are referred to as Kings Horses).
I’m to this day amazed by how Majura dealt with this situation. He very calmly followed us as we led him through the crowed trying to pester off Tamil men who wanted to touch him, and sometimes even hit him. Many tamil women shouted and even screamed as they were afraid of this great beast. When we finally get down a side street and into the farm we were all exhausted.
The next day we lead him to his new home outside the city and we begin inspecting more closely his personality and what condition his physical body is in. We see from the beginning that his hooves are in bad condition and spend hours on the net learning about Natural Hoof Trimming, since there are no farriers in the area. We also start working with him to see how will be with Sacha, the child who will be riding him.
Over the next few months me and Beau enjoyed our days, watching Majura an Koda getting to know each other and learning more and more about how to make live as rich and natural for these two horses as possible.
Six months into the project Majura got very weak and was prescribed with a nerve disease.
We struggled with vets and medication without any real results. I asked an animal communicator in Holland to do healing sessions with Majura, and these showed immediate improvement. So we continued with that until he could again walk and gallop easily. This whole process took 6 months, and as I’m writing this he is already improving, hopefully it will keep on to where we can ride him fully again. But he is happy and full of life, and that is all that matters!

Majura is still with us, happy and joyful! We can ride him in walk. But as his right hind leg fails to stretch all the way, so no extensive work. He is and will always be one the most sweet and beautiful horse of our stable!
